is very high( some part can reach 1700-1800℃), so the tuyere part is seriously eroded.
Third,
the tuyere is at the lateral part of furnace bottom, bears much mechanical
static pressure, easily to be eroded.

One part is the side of tapping.
Because
the iron add hole and tapping hole are at the same side, so the tapping side is
less eroded, the erosion is mainly created by molten steel’s scouring. In

eutectic point is as high as 2370℃.
When chemical reactions happen between CaO and slag, a compound with high
molten point will be easily produced, such as dicalcium silicate whose molten
point is 2130℃, and whose
molten point is 1900℃. Those

resistance to high temperature.

The motion path of gas come from side gas
gun is like a parabola. There is a highest point of the parabola, after the
point, the gas begins to fall down, and then the lining will be scoured heavily
by the gas. Therefore, during the blowing, the furnace body should lean at an
angle of 6-8°.
Besides, controlling gas pressure and
blowing amount of inner and outer gas gun is quite important for stable
operation. Improper control, abnormal growing of umbrella shaped things because
of overcooling, and rise of back pressure are essential elements for control.
As fire point is too close to the side wall, it will lead to overheat of place
around tuyere, and finally bring about trumpet-shaped melting loss of
refractories.

Influences of Smelting Technics on AOD Furnace Lining

And the reasons are as follows.
Research shows that when the temperature of the molten
pool is above 1700 ℃, the
erosion rate of the lining will be doubled for every time of temperature
increases by 50 ℃. When AOD
furnace is smelting stainless steel, the molten pool temperature is above 1750 ℃
during decarburization phase, with a long smelting cycle of stainless steel,
the woking time of lining refractories is relatively long, and thus speed up
the refractories erosion.
Because of the intermittence of producing, the lining
temperature will fall to 1300℃
after molten steel flows out. Before pouring into semi molten steel, there is
still protecting gas blowed in from air pressure gun, then the temperature of
lining around will fall to under 850℃.
During the process of smelting, exothermic reaction will emerge between oxygen
mixed gas entered from tuyere and elements in molten steel, and this will lead
to relatively higher temperature of tuyere area, and other parts are at lower
temperature. Plenty of cold metal will be added into the molten pool during
stainless steel refining, so it will result in rapid temperature decline of
slag line.
The above several
situations of abrupt increase and decline of temperature will easily lead to
exfoliation of lining, finally reduce the furnace service life.
