1.Classify according to strength
High strength frac sand
According to new standard of GB/T 17431.1—1998, high strength frac sand is a kind of structure light coarse aggregate, whose strength grade is not less than 25MPa. Its technology requirements are as same as ultralight and ordinary frac sand except density degree, cylinder compressive strength, strength grade and water absorption which have special index. 2.Classify according to density
According to density, frac sand can be divided into general density frac sand, ultralight density frac sand, and extra light density sand

Ultralight density frac sand
Ultralight density frac sand refers to frac sand that density is 300~500kg/m3, which usually used in heat insulation concrete and heat insulation concrete products
Extra light frac sand
Extra light frac sand refers to frac sand that density is less than 300kg/m3, whose heat insulation performance is very high but with very low strength. It is usually used to produce extra light heat insulation concrete or heat insulation concrete products
3.Classify according to shape
According to shape, frac sand can be divided into macadam frac sand, spherosome frac sand, and cylindrical frac sand
Macadam frac sand
Macadam frac sand generally used in natural ore producing, and it is made from rock smashing, roasting to flour sifting. It also can be made by directly crushing and sifting from nature or man made light material such as pumice, scoria, coal cinder, nature or calcined coal gangue.
Spherosome frac sand
Spherosome frac sand is made by disk pelletizer. It is made by the process from raw material crocus and then prilling mixed with water. After made into balls, which need to roasting or maintenance before turn to frac sand. In general, Chinese frac sand is such a product.
Cylindrical frac sand
Cylindrical frac sand usually made by shaping. It is craved into article mud, and then craved into cylindrical. Such a product is applied in high plasticity clay material, however, output is lower relatively. Cylindrical raw material is roasted by rotary kiln and the cylindrical rolling to oval in the kiln
